February
is going to be a very busy month ... starting with our Kick-a-Thon on
the 3rd and finishing with the Goodwill Tournament on the 25th.
We
really want to take a LARGE group of students to the tournament this
year. We won't have another one this close to home and the cost is only
$40 if you pre-register by the 20th. (Download a registration form or tournament flyer
here.) This is your best bet for putting your skills to the test in
competition this year. If you have any questions about it, please let
me know!

Hyper
Pro-Training students ... Come work on sections 1 & 2 of the bo
form we've been learning and be introduced to section 3. This class will
give you a head start on Monday's class and better ensure we complete
learning of the form before the Goodwill Tournament on Feb. 25th. This class is $10, but students are invited to stay an additional hour for the Tournament prep class that follows for FREE!

Tournament Prep Class - 1
Friday, Feb. 10th 6:00pm
In
preparation for the Goodwill Tournament on Feb. 25th, this class will
help students brush up on their forms and weapons for competition. We
will work on entering & exiting the ring, introductions to the
judges, performing with intensity and more. This hour long class costs
only $10.00. |
Belt Testing
Feb. 22-23
Remember the Requirements:
Gold Belts & Higher - Full white uniform with Dunamis Patch on right shoulder & Flag Patch on Left Shoulder
Purple White & Higher - Same as Gold Belts plus ... UFAF patch on left chest. Must be active UFAF members!
(If you are testing for Purple/Orange or higher, you MUST be a UFAF member. Click here to register! Let me know if you need assistance.)
Test Fees ... All Belt Test Fees (under Black Belt) are $20
(This fee must be turned in with the Exam Request Form prior to belt testing or a $10 late fee will be added!)
If any students are behind in attendance, tuition payments or not
behaving at home & school (less than a 2 on the form) they will not
be eligible for promotion

| TWO Norris Cups & a New Mat! |
| I'm
sure you are all curious to know how things went at our Chun Kuk Do
training and Competition in Vegas ... Well, if you haven't already seen
it on Facebook, hold on to your seat ...
We are going to have TWO Norris Cups in Ridgeland for the next year
because Alex & Andi both won Grand Champion in Forms ... Alex in
the Adult Division and Andi in the Jr. Division.

| What is the Norris Cup 
The
Norris Cup is by far the most coveted prize in the Chun Kuk Do
tournament. It is a traveling trophy that only Black Belts can compete
to win, and only once a year in Vegas at the CKD World Championships.
The
winners from each Black Belt division compete against each other for
the Grand Championship and possession of the Norris Cup. The winner
then gets to keep the Cup for one year, at which time it is handed down
to the next champion ... unless there is a "repeat" winner.
We
had the Jr. Forms Norris Cup in our karate school in 2008 when Andi
Woods won it. Then Alex Gardner brought it back to us in 2010.
Well,
this year our school will be blessed to have both the Jr. Forms Norris
Cup and the Adult Forms Norris Cup because both Andi and Alex won
their respective divisions. Two students from the same school winning
different cups in the same year ... To our knowledge, this has never happened before.
We are SO proud of Alex and Andi, not only for winning but for representing Dunamis Karate and our Region with honor and humility even in their victories!
